Thank you for your interest in applying to the Langley Arts Council's 'Looking Back, and Moving Forward' (COVID-19) exhibition. Please see the information below to apply to this Open Call. 



This is a free B.C. wide Open Call, meaning all B.C. artists are welcome to apply. This call is open to all young artists, emerging artists, established artists, 3D artists, video-based artists, spoken word artists, theatre artists, and dancers.


We will only accept one submission per artist or artistic group. You are welcome to submit work as an individual as well as a part of a group's submission.


*Please note* we will accept work that was made prior to the pandemic, but it does need to portray honestly the experiences each artist has had during it.


Exhibition Dates: April 2nd - May 12th, 2021

Submission Deadline: March 14th, 2021


Information by Artistic Practice

2D and 3D Artists 


This will be an in-person exhibition, 2D and 3D works that will be on display at the Aldergrove Kinsmen Community Centre 'Main Hall' Gallery or 'Foyer Gallery' as well as the AIFS Online Gallery. All works submitted to this call will have to shipped/delivered to the AKCC after being accepted. 2D works must also be ready to hang, and 2D and 3D works must be for sale. Artworks must remain hung for the duration of the show. An artist contract will be sent out to the artists once they have been accepted into the exhibition with more detailed information about drop off dates and times. 


Please note: The Langley Arts Council takes a 30% commission on all artwork sales in our brick and mortar galleries. If your exhibition is online as well as in one of the AIFS Brick-and-Mortar galleries there will be a 30% commission taken on sales, not a 15% commission. If for any reason the exhibition is not in one of our Brick-and-Mortar galleries it will only be subject to a 15% commission.


Spoken Word  


For Spoken Word artists your work can be submitted as a text image to go alongside the artworks in the online exhibition or it can be a short video. For the text-based image please use the submission online application form below. We ask that these pieces be one page in length. 


If you decide to submit a video please keep it under 3 minutes in length and email the video through WeTransfer to Matthew at producer@langleyarts.ca.Your video will be showcased on the Langley Arts Council's website, YouTube channel, as well as the Opening Reception.


Dance


For dance please fill out the submission form below and submit through WeTransfer to Matthew at producer@langleyarts.ca. Please keep your video under three minutes in length. Your video will be showcased on the Langley Arts Council's website as well as the Opening Reception. 


Theatre Arts

Photographing your Artwork (2D & 3D Artists)

Opening Reception


The Langley Arts Council will continue to monitor the health risks associated with the on-going pandemic and will keep the artists and public up to date in regards to the opening reception. If we are unable to do an opening reception all works submitted and accepted will be showcased online.
