This is an OPEN call, meaning you do not need to be a member of the Langley Arts Council to apply. Application fees are listed below.

artSpacific is a special annual BC-Wide juried exhibition with $1,100 worth of prizes being awarded to winners! All 2-D artists who work on paper, canvas, or wooden panel, are welcome to submit their work for consideration. There is no theme for this call. 

Exhibition Dates: October 12th - November 20th, 2024

Deadline to Apply: September 26th, 2024

Artist Eligibility

This exhibition is open to artists who reside in B.C. Canada.

 This is an OPEN call, meaning you do not need to be a member of the Langley Arts Council to apply. 

 Artists must be 18+ to apply to this call. 

Artwork Eligibility

 Please ensure your work follows the LAC's definition of an 'Original Artwork'

Original artwork is created at the hand of the artist who is submitting the work. The creation process must be the effort of a single individual to convey their own personal interpretation of an image or multiple images. Submitting artists are allowed to use reference photos to inspire their work, but artists must use their own design and composition for the final artwork to be considered an original.
If you are submitting a photo medium please ensure the main focal point of the image was taken by the artist and is not a stock image. We do allow stock images to be used in submitted artworks however it must not make up more than 30% of the entire finished artwork.

Gallery Specifications

 All the selected artworks will be on display at the Main Hall Gallery as well as the AIFS Online Gallery.

 Artwork submitted to this call to artists must not have been exhibited at any of our Art in Found Spaces Galleries.

 Artists are welcome to submit 3 artworks for consideration and will receive a notice via email about the status of their submission after the show's submission deadline.

 Artworks submitted to the Langley Arts Council must not have been created in an art class, lesson, or paint night.

 All artworks must remain on display for the duration of the exhibition.

 Since your artwork will be featured in the online Gallery it is imperative we receive high-quality image submissions from you.

2D Artwork Specifications

2D Artwork must be suitably prepared for display meaning;

Wall-mounted work must be appropriately framed or stretched with finished sides and properly wired for hanging, using d-hooks and wire. The D hooks should be 4” from the top of the frame or 1/3 of the height of the frame. The stretched wire should be 2” below the top of the frame.

1 Artwork = $17

2 Artworks = $27

3 Artworks = $37

There will be five awards given one for Best in Show. One First Place Award for $450, one Second Place Award for $350, one Third Place Award for $250, and two Honorable Mentions for $100 each. All five winners will receive a free Langley Arts Council membership. The awards will be given out at the Awards Ceremony which will take place at the Opening Reception. 

Artwork Sale & Commission

 All artworks must be for sale, and any sales that take place during the duration of the exhibition must be facilitated through the Langley Arts Council.
 The Arts Council takes a 35% commission on all artwork sales for this exhibition. 

Photographing your Artwork

We've provided two resources for artists on how to successfully photograph their artwork. Since this is a digital platform it is imperative to have good quality images. These resources should help you to achieve that.

The Langley Arts Council insurance policy does not provide coverage for exhibiting artists. The Langley Arts Council cannot be responsible for theft or damage in any of their Art In Found Spaces Galleries; that being said precaution will be exercised to keep the artwork safe in each exhibition space.

Right to Refuse an Artwork

The Langley Arts Council reserves the right to refuse any piece. Work not properly prepared and or submitted may not be exhibited (consult with the Arts Council regarding any questions or special considerations for hanging an artwork before submission).
