To celebrate 56 years, the Langley Arts Council is hosting a celebratory event '56 Artists to Celebrate 56 Years' on Saturday, Nov. 23.

The event will include live music by Canadian musicians, food, drinks, and a silent auction, said events coordinator Deepika Pandian.

"Enjoy a night of art, meet and mingle with the artists, staff, board, and members, hear their stories, share your stories, and support the arts," she said.

The council is a charitable organization that has served the Langley Township and City since 1968, and has supported more than 500 emerging and established artists through its exhibition program and 30 annual shows.

"As a community-based arts organization, we understand that artistic expression is essential for the overall health and well-being of the community," Pandian said.

Music will be performed by 15-year-old folk and indie singer Crowley Hamill from Langley, Darryl Klassen from Saskatchewan, and Filipino-Canadian saxophonist Gabriel Regehr.

The event will be inside the Aldergrove Kinsmen Community Centre from 4 to 8 p.m., located at 26770 29 Ave.

People can participate in the silent auction online until Nov. 23 at langleyarts.ca.
